Ute Wassermann´s Voicelab
|
The German singer, songwriter and performer, Ute Wassermann is renowned for her original work and extreme vocal experimentation. Since 1984 she has developed several special multi-vocal and voice- masking techniques using the whistling, bird whistles and resonant objects. The cataloguing of these techniques for recording, timbre and articulation sequences allows their deconstruction and / or overlapping in order to explore the acoustic phenomena of spaces. For Serralves em Festa, Wassermann will direct a workshop where "Participants will develop their own 'catalogue' of extensive vocal / experimental and multi-phonic expressions, using them later in a performance. (...) With improvisation games, participants will train the corporal memory of the resonances of our voice and learn unusual and extreme aural songs. Various forms of projecting the voice in space will be explored: such as a taut string, a bouncing ball or in an introverted manner, inside the body ... " Ute Wassermann often performs in improvisation concerts, with other musicians such as Richard Barrett, Aleks Kolkowski or Phil Minton. She is a member of the collective Les Femmes savantes, which will present a headphone concert in Serralves, on June 16, as part of the Matérias Vitais series. Capacity: 120 people |
