Academia Contemporânea do Espectáculo - Teatro do Bolhão Where do those people come from and where are they going? What has happened to them? What do they recall? Have they ever loved, will they ever feel loved? This project, designed by Joana Providência, is inspired by the universe of the painter Edward Hopper, whose works, inhabited by a mixture of realism and strangeness, seem to capture a "before” and "after” without allowing us to understand exactly what. There is an instant suspension, almost photographic, of the daily rhythm that is enveloped in secrets and creates a sense of incompleteness. In Hopper there is a cold "voyeurism", a kind of distancing, almost an absence of voluptuousness. The work of interpretation is primarily focused on a physical body, on the construction of musical scores of movement, and the development of ideas for choreography. |
